Your Solar Review (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates yoursolarreview.com, Australia's independent review platform for residential solar installation companies. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
By using our platform you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.
2. Who we are
Your Solar Review is operated by Investify Wealth Pty Ltd, based in New South Wales, Australia.

3. What information we collect
Information you provide directly
When creating an account:
- Email address
- Display name
- Suburb and state
- Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password)
When verifying your phone number (optional):
- Mobile phone number (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot retrieve your actual number)
When writing a review:
- Details of your solar installation (system size, panel brand, price paid, installation date)
- Your ratings and written review
- Photos of your installation (optional)
- Invoice or quote uploaded for verification (optional — stored securely, used only for verification)
- Your energy retailer and feed-in tariff (optional)
- Battery system details (optional)
When submitting a quote for analysis:
- Your solar quote document (PDF or image)
- Your suburb and state
When requesting quotes from installers:
- Your name, email and phone number
- Your suburb, state and system preferences
When using the Government Incentive Calculator:
- Your state, ownership type, income band and installation preferences
- This data is used only to calculate your incentive eligibility and is not linked to your identity unless you are logged in
When claiming a business:
- Your full name, job title and work email address
- Your ABN (used for business verification only)
Information collected automatically
When you use our platform we automatically collect:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and time spent
- Search queries entered on the platform
- Referring website
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised usage data. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Information from third parties
Google Places API: We display publicly available Google star ratings and review counts on company profile pages, sourced directly from Google. We do not receive or store individual Google review text.
Stripe: When you subscribe to a paid business plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. We receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Publish your reviews on the platform (your display name and suburb/state are shown; your full name, email and phone are never published)
- Verify the authenticity of reviews to protect the integrity of the platform
- Detect and prevent fake reviews and fraud
- Calculate government solar incentives relevant to your state and situation
- Send you email notifications about your reviews and account activity
- Send a weekly digest email with solar news relevant to your state (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Process payments for business subscriptions (via Stripe)
- Distribute quote requests to relevant solar installers (Pro tier only)
- Improve the platform through anonymised analytics
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your information for:
- Selling your data to third parties
- Targeted advertising on our platform
- Any purpose unrelated to operating Your Solar Review
5. Who we share your information with
We share limited information with the following third parties solely to operate the platform:

We require all third-party providers to protect your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes. We may disclose your information if required to by Australian law, a court order, or a government authority.
6. Reviews and public content
When you submit a review, the following is published publicly on the platform:
- Your display name (or “Anonymous” if you choose)
- Your suburb and state
- Your review content (headline, body, ratings)
- Your installation details (system size, panel brand, price paid, installation date)
- Any photos you choose to upload
The following is never published:
- Your full name, email address or phone number
- Your invoice or quote document
- Your exact street address
Your review may appear in Google search results as the platform is publicly indexed.
7. Data retention

8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act you have the right to:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing privacy@yoursolarreview.com.
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Note that published reviews may remain on the platform in anonymised form (your name removed) as they form part of the public record.
Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from our weekly digest or any promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Complaints: If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may contact us at privacy@yoursolarreview.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Security
We take the security of your information seriously. Our security measures include:
- All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords hashed using bcrypt
- Phone numbers stored as one-way cryptographic hashes (we cannot retrieve your number)
- Row-level security on all database tables (users can only access their own data)
- Regular security reviews
- Supabase infrastructure hosted in AWS ap-southeast-1 (Sydney region)
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The current version is always available at yoursolarreview.com/privacy. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
